Let’s Talk About the Best Part of Travel… FOOD in Cabo 😋🍴🌮

If you've been following us for a while, you already know — food is one of the greatest joys of traveling (at least for me!). I love exploring a destination one plate at a time, and everything in between is just a scenic walk to the next meal. 😌

Since this will be our first time in Cabo San Lucas, I started daydreaming and researching what deliciousness awaits us beyond the gorgeous beaches and famous sea arches. Sure, I’ve had tacos al pastor, Baja fish tacos, and ceviche before… but let’s be honest — I’ve probably had the American version more often than not. It’s time for the real deal. And yes, I fully intend to eat tacos every day if possible. #VacationGoals 🌮✨

But in my little food deep-dive, came across a few things jumped out at me that I’ve never tried on Cabo-adventures.com and now MUST find:

🌟 Must-Try Foods & Drinks in Cabo

Cochinita Pibil

This one instantly made my foodie heart excited.
Slow-roasted pork marinated in achiote + citrus, wrapped in banana leaves, cooked until it falls apart… YES PLEASE.
It’s a Yucatán specialty but apparently enjoyed widely in Cabo too — especially with pickled onions and homemade tortillas. If I spot this anywhere? Consider it ordered.

Mezcal

I’ve had tequila, of course (hi, Mexico 😁), but mezcal feels like tequila’s mysterious, smoky older cousin who tells ancient stories by a fire. It’s roasted in underground pits (!!), sipped slowly with orange slices + chile salt, and there are tasting rituals.
Sounds like a whole experience — I’m in.

Pulque

This one fascinates me. Fermented agave sap, thick, a little yeasty, and full of history — like way-back Indigenous-era history. Pulque seems like a drink you don’t just gulp… you respect it. It’s less common, more cultural, and if I can track it down in Baja, I’d love to try it at least once.

Chocolate Clams

Okay, confession: I’m not sure about these yet. 😂
They’re big clams from the Sea of Cortez, grilled with herbs (sometimes cheese??) and supposedly amazing — despite the name, they’re not chocolate flavored.
Still… giant clams feel like a commitment. But maybe bravery will strike and I’ll try one. (If I do, you'll hear about it.)

There are definitely food tours available in Cabo — and honestly they look fun — but something about stumbling across little street spots and hole-in-the-wall gems feels more authentic and exciting to me. Don’t worry, I’ll do my due diligence on cleanliness, reviews, and crowds… but I love the thrill of discovering food organically. That’s half the adventure.

I can already imagine us wandering the marina, sitting on plastic stools at a taco stand, sipping something smoky or sweet, ocean breeze blowing… ✨
Travel isn’t just about seeing places — it’s about tasting them.

Can’t wait to report back from Cabo — and if you’ve tried any of these or have other must-eat recs, send them my way!
