A Quiet Night at Savor – Dinner Done Right

As self-proclaimed foodies, we’ve been on a mission to try a little bit of everything aboard the NCL Getaway. From Garden Café’s international buffet spreads to the sit-down classics at Taste, Savor, and The Manhattan Room, we've sampled plenty—and yes, we’ve been known to sneak a bite (or five) of every Indian dish we could find. But one spot we’ve been eyeing all week is the elegant and oh-so-French Le Bistro, one of Norwegian’s signature specialty restaurants.

Le Bistro exudes Parisian charm. We passed by the entrance several times and each time, the cozy, romantic vibe and the mouthwatering menu posted outside called out to us like a French siren song. Rich wood accents, ornate chandeliers, and velvet chairs—it's giving bougie bistro meets the high seas, and we are totally here for it.

Now, specialty restaurants like Le Bistro do require reservations (pro tip: book them early either online or through the NCL app to secure your preferred time). We get one specialty dining meal included with our cruise package, and after much browsing and indecision, Le Bistro is winning our hearts. We’re curious to see how it compares to some of the food we've had in France. Will it transport us back to those charming little cafés on the Riviera or tucked away corners of Paris?

The menu? Chef’s kiss. Escargot, foie gras, coq au vin… and don’t even get us started on the dessert options (please let there be a proper crème brûlée). The wine list is impressively French-forward, and they even have a sommelier ready to help us pick the perfect pairing. Très fancy.

If you’re celebrating something special or just want to upgrade your dining game, Le Bistro also offers a Chef’s Table experience. It’s a more exclusive, curated dinner with wine pairings and a personal touch from the executive chef. We haven’t booked that—yet—but never say never.

We’re excited to indulge and see if Le Bistro lives up to the hype (and our high expectations). Stay tuned—we’ll let you know how it measures up in our full specialty dining round-up soon!

For now, we did a sit-down dinner at the Savor.

After a few buffet-filled days of tasting everything from burgers to biryani at the Garden Café, we decided it was time for a quieter, more relaxed dinner—and Savor was just the spot.

One of the main complimentary dining rooms on the NCL Getaway, Savor strikes a balance between classic comfort and modern flair. With its chic decor and a calm atmosphere, it was a welcome break from the hustle and bustle of the buffet. Sometimes, you just need to trade the busy food stations for table service and some much-needed chill.

The menu rotates daily, but always includes a selection of familiar favorites and a few chef specials to keep things interesting. On this visit, we both went with fish entrées. The portions were solid, the food arrived warm, and the flavors were fresh. The service was friendly and attentive—our waiter made sure we had everything we needed without hovering too much (always appreciated!).

To be honest, nothing about this meal screamed wow, but it didn’t need to. It was a nice, peaceful dinner that gave us a chance to slow down, enjoy a real sit-down meal, and let the cruise pace settle into something more relaxed. Sometimes, that’s the win.

Savor may not be flashy, but it's dependable, stylish, and a great place to enjoy a quiet meal while catching up on the day’s adventures. We'll likely be back for another dinner—or even a calm breakfast—before the cruise is over.

Bon appétit,
