Old No. 77

Our stay at The Old No. 77 Hotel & Chandlery in New Orleans was nothing short of spectacular! Nestled in the vibrant Warehouse Arts District, just three blocks from the French Quarter, this hotel perfectly captures the essence of the city's rich history and culture.

From the moment we arrived, we were captivated by the hotel's unique blend of historic charm and modern amenities. Housed in a building dating back to 1854, originally serving as a coffee warehouse and later a chandlery, the hotel has retained much of its original character with exposed brick walls and thoughtfully curated décor.

Our room was a delightful retreat, featuring large windows that bathed the space in natural light, stylish décor, and artwork by students from the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts. The comfortable king-sized bed and spacious layout made it a perfect sanctuary after a day of exploring the city.

One of the highlights of our stay was dining at Compère Lapin, the hotel's on-site restaurant helmed by James Beard Award-winning Chef Nina Compton. The menu offers a creative fusion of Caribbean flavors and French culinary techniques, resulting in dishes that are both innovative and deeply rooted in New Orleans' culinary traditions.

The hotel's commitment to art is evident throughout the property, with rotating collections in their dedicated gallery and artwork adorning the walls of each guest room. This emphasis on local art added an extra layer of authenticity to our experience, making us feel even more connected to the vibrant culture of New Orleans.

The service was impeccable, with staff members who were not only professional but also genuinely warm and welcoming. Their recommendations for local attractions and eateries enriched our visit and allowed us to experience the city like locals.

The Old No. 77 Hotel & Chandlery is more than just a place to stay; it's an immersion into the heart and soul of New Orleans. We left with cherished memories and a longing to return to this enchanting city and its remarkable hotel.
